From now until Jan. 1, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Male Freshman of the Year. Thursday, we'll unveil the candidates for Female Freshman of the Year.
The fourth annual Frosty Awards will take place in April and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Male Freshman of the Year
Desmond Fairell: Fairell led Carson-Newman in interceptions with four picks in his freshman season. He ranked second in the South Atlantic Conference and top 25 in the nation with his interception tally. He had the most interceptions in a single season for Carson-Newman since All-American Eien Jacob's five in 2013. Fairell snagged two interceptions against Mars Hill. It is the 14th time since the year 2000 that an Eagle has had two picks in one game. Fairell joins Revel Coffey as the only freshmen since the year 2000 with two picks in one game.
Montel Presley: Presley proved to be a force on the defensive line for the Eagles in his first season. He tallied 33 tackles and started all eight games for which he was healthy. Presley had three stops behind the line of scrimmage and half a sack. His best efforts came against Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate. He had 11 tackles and six tackles in the two games, respectively.
Jordan Seal: Seal quickly worked himself into the starting lineup on the offensive line, making his first career start at center four weeks into the season against Mars Hill. Seal came into his own in the final three weeks of the year. He produced 10 knockdowns in games against Limestone, North Greenville and Tusculum alone. His four knockdowns tie Robby Ignagni and Lucas Mathis' single-game school record.
Joe Boyd: Boyd (Nottingham, England) entered the season as an unknown but made his mark with 15 games of exceptional goalkeeping. Despite missing C-N's last two contests, the freshman goalie still finished fifth in the conference with 69 saves and also put up a save percentage of .775, fourth in the SAC, and a goals-against average of 1.35, which placed him fifth. His three clean sheets also tied him for third in the league.
Cameron Holmes: Holmes arrived on the scene in a big way for Carson-Newman men's basketball. The Fort Mill, S.C. native erupted for 19 points in his second career game at Lander. The freshman knocked down 5-of-9 three point attempts against the Bearcats. He also had a 12-point effort at Newberry. He is averaging 5.8 points on 37 percent shooting. He fires away at a 43 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Amos Korir: The Eldorett, Kenya native finished first on the team in three of the team's five meets during his debut season in Mossy Creek in the fall of 2016. Placed a season-high second at the Maryville Invitational's 10-kilomter run on Oct. 1 and ran a season-fastest time of 17:47.3 in the five-kilometer run at the Tusculum Open to begin the season on Sept. 9. Korir picked up All-Freshman honors by the South Atlantic Conference by season's end.
Tom Forster: Through four tournaments, Forster (Oundle, England) has posted a stroke average of 72.7 and has finished two events with Carson-Newman's best score. Forster earned a seventh place finish in the St. Leo Invitational by carding a three-under 213. He also shot a score of one-over in the Division II Preview to tie for 24th. Forster finished the fall by tying for 18th in the McDonough Cup.
