From now until Jan. 1, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Female Freshman of the Year. Friday, we'll unveil the candidates for Coach of the Year.
The fourth annual Frosty Awards will take place in April and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Female Freshman of the Year
Jackie Burns: Burns (Cookstown, Northern Ireland) put together a season in which she rewrote the program and conference record book. She totaled 14 shutouts, a new record for both Carson-Newman and the South Atlantic Conference. She had a streak of five consecutive shutouts from Oct. 22nd to Nov. 4th. Burns also posted a goals-against average of 0.63, a new program best. The freshman keeper finished tied fourth in the league in goals allowed with 14 and put up a save percentage of .816, also tied for fourth.
Marnie Streeter: The All-Freshman Team pick is the eighth Carson-Newman rookie to earn a spot on the all-freshman squad since its inception prior to the 2005 season. The Goldvein, Va. native finished the season fifth in the conference in total kills with 345 and seventh in kills per set with 3.03. The 345 total smashes are the most by a C-N freshman since Melissa Miller racked up 367 in 2003.
The outside hitter had 18 double-digit matches in 2016 including a string of 12 consecutive contests to close out the year where she averaged 3.83 kills per frame. She led the team in kills in 20 of the 30 games as a freshman while tallying a career-high 21 on a .288 attack percentage in a five-set victory over Augusta on Oct. 14.
Reagan Kinnie: Arriving at Mossy Creek from Murfreesboro, Tenn., Kinnie owns the second-best stroke average for the Eagles at 78.2. At the King University Invitational, she posted a score of five-over to finish in second place, behind only teammate Elizabeth England. She also carded C-N's second best finish in the Newberry College Regional Preview, shooting a +14.
Alex Biro: Biro was three players on the roster to play in all 117 matches for the volleyball team in the fall finishing third on the roster with 208 kills while posting a team-best .238 attack percentage and 108 total blocks. Her attack percentage was 18th in the South Atlantic Conference while her rejections ranks fourth. The rookie's best match came on Oct. 14 in a five-set victory over Augusta when she registered 15 kills on a .565 attack percentage with 4.5 total blocks.
