From now until Jan. 1, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Male Performance of the Year. Tuesday, we'll unveil the candidates for Female Performance of the Year.
The fourth annual Frosty Awards will take place in April and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Male Performance
Shaun Jones v. LMU: Carson-Newman was a tank when it down No. 6 LMU 111-109 in overtime. Shaun Jones was the Eagles' engine that day. The Valdosta State transfer produced a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. He also made the pass that led to Malik Abraham's game-winning bucket with a second left.
Antonio Wimbush v. North Greenville: Wimbush (Waveland, Miss.) had a banner day for the Eagle in a loss to North Greenville. The sophomore running back notched his fifth career 100-yard performance with 105 yards on 17 carries. He also snagged six passes for 90 yards and a score. Wimbush became the first Carson-Newman tailback this century to catch 90 yards worth of passes. Wimbush' had 219 all-purpose yards (he had a 24-yard punt return),
Noah Suber v. Humboldt State: Suber propelled Carson-Newman to an offensive explosion in its season-opening loss to No. 7 Humboldt State. The senior completed 13-of-24 passes for 208 yards and a score while also carrying the ball 17 times for 104 yards and a score. Suber helped guide the offense to 672 yards, the eighth most in school history.
Joe Boyd v. #7 Tusculum: Battling one of the best teams in the nation, Boyd (Nottingham, England) set a new career-high, making ten saves as he helped his team capture a 2-1 win in double overtime. In the first overtime period, Boyd made a pair of saves in helping extending the match into a second overtime period, where Thibault Mathorez (Graces, France) ended the game with a header to clinch the win for C-N
Marcelo Figueiredo at Bearcats Midseason Invitational: The sophomore swimmer started off this three day competition by twice breaking the Carson-Newman record in the 500 free. After clocking in at 4:32.32 in the morning session, topping the previous record of 4:33.59, he swam the event in 4:30.45 later that same day. Figueiredo (Porto Alegre, Brazil) finished the meet by shattering the program record in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:51.46, more than 26 seconds better than the previous C-N best.
Shaun Jones at Newbery: Jones couldn't miss at Newberry. Literally. The junior tied a SAC and school record for most field goals attempted in a single game without missing. Jones went 12-for-12 from the field in the Eagles' 22-point win over the Wolves. The mark equals marks set by Carson Brooks for the Eagles and Sean Morgan for Queens within 12 days of each other to start the 2014-15 season. He also had a double-double that day with 10 rebounds. He hand out three assists.
