Female Performance of the Year

Lauren Wade 5 goals at USC Aiken: As her team was fashioning a 9-0 whipping of USC-Aiken, Lauren Wade (Coleraine, Northern Ireland) scored twice in the first half, added three more in the second and also tacked on a pair of assists for a 12 point day. Her goal total tied her for the second-most in Division II in 2016 and her point total also stands as the second-most in the nation this season. The last Carson-Newman player to match those totals in a single match was Liz Jallo, who did so in 2002.

Elizabeth England win at King Intercollegiate: In earning her third career win, Elizabeth England (Oakland, Tenn.) topped the field with a +1 143. In the second round, England shot a -3 68, tying a SAC record for the lowest individual score in one round. The junior led all competitors by posting 26 pars and also birdied five holes. England also helped her team beat the host school King (Tenn.) by three strokes for the team tournament championship.

Mika Wester v. King (Tenn.): In a 107-71 thrashing of King (Tenn.) on Nov. 17, Mika Wester scored a game-high 25 points going 10-for-16 from the floor and added 10 rebounds for her first-career double-double to go along with three assists, three steals and two blocks. It was a contest where C-N made a program-record 15 three-pointers. Wester joined Kailyn Brooks, 22 points, with 20-point outings to become the first C-N duo with at least 20 points in a game since Zoriah Williams and Shannon Depew each tallied 21 at Lenoir-Rhyne on Feb. 29, 2012.

Sky McCarter at Tusculum Open: Sophomore Sky McCarter, who finished the 2015 season with two top-10 times with a best of third-overall at the Blue/Orange Meet, was the first Eagle to cross the finish line on the women's side with the second-best overall time of 22:00.9 at the Tusculum Open Quad Meet to kick off the 2016 campaign. The meet featured squads from Tusculum, Carson-Newman, Maryville and Queens. McCarter finished out in front of nearly 40 runners to take home the gold.

Maggie Melhorn in Cincinnati: Over the course of a three day meet at the University of Cincinnati, Melhorn (Knoxville, Tenn.) broke two school records, swam a national B qualifying time and earned two first place finishes. On the first day of competition, she was a member of a 400 medley relay team that swam a time of 3:46.78, a new program best. The next day, her time of 1:03.37 met the standard for a national B qualifying time, putting her in the running for a spot at nationals. On the final day of the meet, Melhorn finished first in the women's 100 IM in the morning and in the evening, clocking in at 58.49 during the night race to set a new C-N record.
