Swift joins Athletic Communications team

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier announced Sunday that Tanner Swift has joined the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications team as a graduate assistant.

Swift brings a wealth of experience to Mossy Creek following a year working under Randall Stewart at Newberry College in 2016-17.

"This is a really fun hire to make," Cavalier said. "We got to witness what Tanner was capable of from afar last year.  He will make an instant impact with the knowledge that he has gained from both Randall at Newberry and Daniel Hooker at Western Carolina."

Swift graduated with a BSBA in Sport Management from Western Carolina University in August of 2015.  He worked as a student in the sports information office while with the Catamounts.

In the summer of 2015, he interned in the Coastal Plain League with the Gastonia Grizzlies.

Swift is from Cary, N.C., and has also coached basketball at various levels since 2011. He spent a season as an assistant for his former high school, Panther Creek, under Mark Adams. From 2012-15, he was with Networks Basketball, Inc. under Kevin Nunley.

Swift will be the primary contact for Carson-Newman women's soccer, swimming, as well as track and field.  He will also work with football and softball.
