From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Team of the Year. Christmas Eve, we'll unveil the candidates for Game of the Year.
The fifth annual Frosty Awards will take place in early May and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Team of the Year
Women's Basketball
The Lady Eagles are off to a 13-0 start to a season for the third time in school history while notching their highest ranking as a member of Division II at No. 6 in the country. The high mark for an opening to a season is 16-0 set in 2009-10. Carson-Newman is one of 12 remaining undefeated teams in the country while ranking second in the nation in points per game at 96.6. Mincey's unit has five outings with at least 100 points marking the most in a single season in school history passing the 1979-80 team's four. Entering this season, the program has scored at least 110 points seven times. The 2017-18 group has done so in four times. Among many big moments, the team set the program record for three-pointers in a game with 17 against Shorter on Nov. 21. C-N has also scored the third and fourth most points in the history of the school with 119 against the reigning region titlists Columbus State on Nov. 26 and 115 against Georgia College on Nov. 18.
Women's Soccer
The only team in the history of women's athletics at Carson-Newman and the South Atlantic Conference to make it to the National title. The Eagles recorded a program high 21 wins during the season and a record 22-straight games unbeaten. C-N outscored teams 72-12 over the 23 games and only trailed for a total of 42:44 in a possible 2112 minutes. Became the only team in SAC history and C-N women's soccer to finish regular season and conference tournament unbeaten en route to their third-straight regular season and league title. Following the tie with L-R on Sept. 20, the team rattled of 16-straight wins which also marked a program record. They collected a total of 14 clean sheets on the year which included a program record six in a row from Oct. 7 to Oct. 31. The Eagles continued their regular season unbeaten streak at McCown Field which sits at 20 games. Since the end of the regular season, the team collected 31 awards, shattering the previous record of 19 set in 2009 and 2016.
Volleyball
After a year away from the postseason, Carson-Newman finished the season fourth in the league, runners-up in the SAC Tournament and a member of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championships for the seventh time in program history. The team earned the No. 7 seed in the playoff and fell in a five-set effort to second-seeded Wingate. Morgan Ballard led the unit with a selection to the conference's top team while picking up all-region honors from D2CCA and AVCA. Marnie Streeter was a second-team All-SAC pick and Megan Oldenburger was an all-freshman honoree. Two seniors graduate but the Eagles will return five of its six starters.
Men's Basketball
Carson-Newman has the best the best start of the Division II era in hand with an 11-2 ledger. The Eagles opened up the year with seven straight wins, the most to start a season since the 1972-73 went 7-0 to open up the year. The Eagles came within a game of the best start set by the 1960-61, 1961-62 and 1964-65 teams. Carson-Newman boasts the country's second most efficient offense - the Eagles make shots at better than a 53 percent clip. Additionally, the Eagles are top 10 in the country in assists and are top 15 in threes and three-point field goal percentage.
