From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Male Freshman of the Year. Wednesday, we'll unveil the candidates for Female Freshman of the Year.
The fifth annual Frosty Awards will take place in early May and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Male Freshman of the Year:
Eli Holbert: An effective punter and kicker for Carson-Newman football in his freshman year, Holbert was third on the team in scoring. He converted 6-of-9 field goals, including a 47-yard boot against Catawba. As a punter, Holbert was second in the league with 40.2 yards a kick. He had a sextet of 50-yard kicks, including career-best 57 yarders against Catawba and North Greenville. He pinned opponents inside their 20, 12 times, including four against Mars Hill.
Thaylan Silva: The São Paulo, Brazil native scored two goals in 2017 with a pair of assists for 6 points. His best performance came in a 3-0 victory over Catawba on Oct. 7 when he scored a goal in the 75th minute of play to put the Eagles up 2-0. He also recorded an assist on Tobias Solem Karlsen's opening goal of the game.
Kelvin Ronoh: The freshman from Kenya placed second on the cross country team in every event this season. Ronoh had three top-ten finishes to begin the season, at the Tusculum Open he finished in third place with a time of 16:05, a few weeks later he came in sixth place at the Asheville Cross Country Invitational with a time of 21:00.56 and he rounded out his string of top-ten finishes at the Allen and Phyllis Morgan Invitational-Battle at Mossy Creek with a fourth place finish. In the South Atlantic Conference Championships Ronoh placed 15th overall with a time of 25:54.77. The Kenyan native capped off an impressive freshman season with a 30th place finish in the Southeast Regional. Ronoh, was named to both the All-SAC Freshman team and the All-SAC Honorable Mention teams this year.
Chad Andoljsek: The freshman Andoljsek has turned in an impressive year at C-N which included some lifetime best times against D1 opponents in the University of Tennessee Mid-Season Invitational. Andoljsek notched in a time of 20.42 in the 50-yard freestyle which put him with the 14th-best time in the country. He was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team who turned in the 11th-best time, and the lifetime best swim in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:40.91.
Will Sainsbury-Logan: The midfielder from Norwich, England started in 14 games this season. Despite coming in as an attacking midfielder, he made his way around the pitch, most notably playing at centerback for a majority of the season. He collected just one assist on the season as he and Ashley Kelynack provided a helping hand with Tobias Solem Karlsen's second goal in a 3-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 4.
