From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Female Freshman of the Year. Thursday, we'll unveil the candidates for Upset of the Year.
The fifth annual Frosty Awards will take place in early May and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Female Freshman of the Year
Megan Oldenburger
Oldenburger joined teammate Natalie Harris (Monroe, N.C.) from 2015 and Streeter from 2016 as the line of three straight athletes named to the SAC's All-Freshman team. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native collected 10 double-doubles as a rookie finishing the season with 2.51 kills per set and 2.84 digs per game.
Laurel Sankowski
On day one of the UT Invitational, Sankowski put together a lifetime best swim in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.04. She was also a piece of the 200-yard freestyle relay squad who finished with the 5th best time in the country at 1:33.65. On day two, Sankowski's posted a lifetime best time in the 200-yard medley. The Indian Trail, NC. native qualified for the 2017 U.S. Speedo Winter Junior Championships which took place on Dec. 7 to the 9th. She equaled her best time in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.04. She collect a lifetime best finish in the 100-yard fly at 56.42, which also ranks inside the top-30 in Division II.
Madison Huffstetler
Huffstetler played in 22 games in 2017 on the Eagles back line, collecting two goals in the process. Hufftstetler was an important piece in C-N's quest for a National Title, helping the Eagles to a program record of 21 wins. She helped shutout 14 teams on the season, including a six-game clean sheet streak for a new program record.
Emilee Futrell
The Wilson, N.C. native recorded the third-most goals on the team following the 2017 season with nine and chipped in three assists. She assisted on the first goal in the National Semifinal and recorded the game-winning tally later in the second half. The forward led all freshman in the South Atlantic Conference in goals and points, playing in 22 games on the year.
