From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Female Performance of the Year. New Year's Day, we'll unveil the candidates for Female Athlete of the Year.
The fifth annual Frosty Awards will take place in early May and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

Female Performance of the Year:
Morgan Ballard vs. Mars Hill
On Sept. 9 at Mars Hill, Ballard set a SAC record for digs in a match with 58 in a four-set win at Mars Hill Saturday afternoon. The previous league mark was set by Jenny Young of Catawba versus Tusculum on Sept. 17, 2011 in a five-set outing. Caitlyn Dean held the mark for a SAC athlete in a four-set affair when she racked up 47 for the Pioneers against Anderson (S.C.) on Oct. 27, 2012. In NCAA history, only two players have ever tallied more scoops in a four-set match across the three divisions as each had 60. Maggie Nowicki of Central (Iowa) posted the number on Oct. 6, 2007 and Jocelyn Decker of Millersville hit the mark on Oct. 4, 2005. A total of nine student-athletes have had more than Ballard's 58 in a match of any length in the history of NCAA volleyball.
Lauren Wade at Tusculum
The senior forward recorded the fifth-fastest hat trick in the history of Division II Women's Soccer at Tusculum on Oct. 18. Her three goals in a 3 minute and 30 second span beginning in the 78th minute and ending in the 81st, propelled the Eagles to a 3-0 win and ultimately granted the team to regular season champions. It marked the 13th-straight game unbeaten, which claimed a new program record.
Lauren Wade vs. Wingate SAC Final
Wade became the only player to ever record a hat trick in the South Atlantic Conference Championship after the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs to win the conference title for the third-straight year. The Coleraine, Northern Ireland native recorded a goal in the third minute and the 13th minute as the team raced out to a 3-0 lead before completing the trifecta on a rocket in the 63rd minute. She was named to the All-Tournament team and SAC tourney's MVP
Magda Mosengo vs. Columbus State
Junior forward Magda Mosengo collected three goals and one assist in the Southeast Region Title match over Columbus State. The 6-0 win over CSU is the most goals they've allowed in a match since 2005 when Lincoln Memorial garnered a 7-3 victory. The six-goal drubbing is the largest loss for Columbus State since coach Jay Entlich took over in 2004. Her three goals tied the program record for most goals in NCAA tourney play at C-N with a total of six.
Elizabeth England at the King Invitational
For the second-straight season, Elizabeth England earned the title of champion at the King Invitational hosted by King University on Sept. 26. The senior led the field with a +4 total of 146 after rounds of 72 and 74. She shot for par on 13 holes and tied for first in par 3 scoring at one-under in the first round before tying in par 4 scoring at the event with 4.18. Her first place finish helped the Eagles to defend their invitational title. The victory marked her sixth career victory as she finished three-over, three stroked better than anyone else in the field.
Haris Price vs. North Georgia
In a comeback victory on North Georgia's home floor on Nov. 17, Price helped continue C-N's perfect start to the year with a career-high 29 points. The junior guard finished the night with a career-high 29 points going 13-for-14 from the free-throw line while grabbing six rebounds and posting four steals and four assists. The game was a part of a 3-0 week that netted Price her first SAC Player of the Week honor.
Maggie Melhorn, NSU Shark Invitational
Melhorn topped all Individual swimmers recording the highest point total over a two-day period in the NSU Shark Invitational on Oct. 14. The Knoxville, Tenn. native took on some of the best teams in the nation, which included the fastest time in the nation in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.09. Melhorn was also a piece of the three relay teams to win events over the weekend against Wingate, Nova Southeastern, University of Indianapolis, Florida Southern, West Florida, and Keiser University, who are some of the top teams in all of Division II. She a first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, topping 53 other swimmers in the event with a time of 2:06.12. She defeated last year's runner-up at nationals in Alex Divelbiss from Wingate.
Tia Davis, Bast-Cregger Invitational
Davis, a native of Ooltewah, Tenn., topped two school records on the same day in the Eagles first invitational of the season. The first school record of the day to be broken by Davis was the 60-meter dash in which she completed in 7.98 seconds, finishing third in the event. The previous record was held by teammate Samantha Gudger who completed the event in 8.08 seconds last season. For Davis, she followed up with another record in the 200-meter dash and claimed a second-place finish with a time of 26.53. She was awarded the first player of the week honor in the South Atlantic Conference's inaugural indoor track & field season.
Mika Wester vs. Lander
Against 15th-ranked Lander in the second game of the year on Nov. 11, Wester racked up 28 points going 10-for-18 from field and had five assists and four rebounds. The Lady Eagles beat the Bearcats 90-87 at USC Aiken's Convocation Center. The performance helped the Newport, Tenn. native win the SAC Player of the Week for the second time.
