Athletic Communications team hauls in four awards in CoSIDA Publications and Digital Design Contest

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Carson-Newman's athletic communications team tallied four awards at the College Sports Information Directors of America's (CoSIDA) Publications and Digital Design Contest. 

The department was lauded for its football gameday programs, fall and winter game notes, and video feature. 

Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier won his first publications and digital design award with a second place finish for Football Gameday Programs in the College Division.  The Marshall University product won two CoSIDA Fred Stabley Writing contest awards last year. 

Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Michael Wottreng brought his career publications and digital design awards total to five with two first-place finishes this year.  Wottreng won for Game Notes Fall Sports – College, Game Notes Winter Sports – College for his work with the volleyball and women's basketball game note packages.  The Marquette graduate won the spring sports category for his baseball game notes in 2017, took home second for a video feature and finished third for fall game notes last year.  

Finally, Associate Director of Athletic Communications Danielle Whaley tallied her first CoSIDA honor with recognition in the Video Feature - College category.  The University of Tennessee alumna won for her story on Carson-Newman football player Diantae Thomas' transition to Carson-Newman's split-back veer option attack. 

These accolades bring the department's overall awards total to 11 from CoSIDA in the last two years.
