Pope elevates Laux to Director of Eagle Club and External Operations

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Vice President for Athletics Matt Pope has announced Shelly Laux has been promoted to be the athletic department's new Director of Eagle Club and External Operations.

With the promotion, Laux, who previously was the department's athletic event, marketing and promotions coordinator, will be in charge of the Eagle Club and overseeing gameday operations, special events and awards ceremonies.

"When I took this job, one of the first priorities to address was who would be in charge of our Eagle Club," Pope said. "I was very fortunate because the answer was right in front of my face. Shelly Laux proved to be beyond capable in her role with our marketing and promotions. It's with full confidence that we hand her the key to the Eagle Club. I look forward to working with her as she directs both our Eagle Club and our external operations."

She will retain responsibilities coordinating on-site NCAA tournament events, ticketing and promotions.

Laux transferred to the athletic department from Carson-Newman's advancement office, where she assisted the Vice President for Advancement in meeting Carson-Newman's fundraising goals.

"Obviously this is a thrill to move into this role within our athletic department," Laux said. "I look forward to working with Matt Pope to ensure that we as an athletic department are actively engaging our alums, fans and students.  I'm very eager to help build an experience that Carson-Newman fans will be proud of, both within the Eagle Club and through our marketing and promotions."

Prior to working in Carson-Newman's advancement office, Laux served as the visual arts director at Cornerstone Academy.

Laux studied at Bowling Green State University for her undergraduate degree before obtaining two master's degrees from Carson-Newman in social entrepreneurship and business administration.

She is married to Matt Laux. The couple resides in Morristown and has three children.
