Entering the night winners of 17 of the last 18, Anderson registered its second-lowest hitting clip of the season as Carson-Newman limited the Trojans to a .065 margin. It was the first sweep for the Eagles against the Trojans in the last 12 matches dating back to a straight set win on Oct. 10, 2014 in the Palmetto State. Dave Franklin's crew posted a .213 hitting clip with Megan Oldenburger leading all players as the only individual in double figures with 11 kills for a .360 attack clip adding nine scoops. Erin Edwards did not make a mistake on the night with nine kills on 23 swings racking up a .391 hitting percentage while adding 1.5 total blocks.

It was the first road win for Carson-Newman at a top-15 team since taking down 11th-ranked Anderson 54-51 on Jan. 21, 2016.Carson-Newman went 11-for-15 from the field in the third and a 68-59 advantage entering the fourth frame. All five starters for Mincey's unit scored in double figures as Kayla Marosites led all players with 23 points going 10-for-16 from the field with five boards.

Men's Golf at the Aflac/Cougar Invitational: Carson-Newman picked up its first win of the season with its three best rounds of play in the fall at the Cougar Invitational presented by Aflac back in late September. By the end of the first day, the Eagles were second in the field with a two-round total of 569. In the final round of the tournament, Carson-Newman carded its lowest round score of the fall with a 274, pushing the team to a 10-under 843, the lowest 54-hole total for the program since scoring an 840 at the North Georgia Fall Invitational in 2015. Of the four counting scores in the third round from the five-man team, all sat in the 60s, the only time it happened in the first half of the season. Then ranked 16th in the nation, Carson-Newman closed the event three strokes ahead of No. 4 Florida Southern.

Women's Golf at the King Invitational: For a third-straight season, Carson-Newman left the King invitational with the tournament and top medalist crowns with a win in late September. Through two-rounds, the Eagles carded a 29-over score of 597, the best 36-hole total a Carson-Newman team has scored during coach Suzanne Strudwick's tenure. Six Eagles landed in the top 10 of the field with four in the top five and three in the top three. Freshman Maeve Cummins was the top medalist with a four-over 146 total. She became the first Carson-Newman freshman to win an event since Elizabeth England at the Newberry/Carson-Newman duel on Feb. 2, 2015.
