Fall Frosty Awards Nominees: Team of the Year

From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester.  These are the fall nominees for Team of the Year. Tuesday, Christmas Day, we'll unveil the candidates for Play of the Year. 

The sixth annual Frosty Awards will take place in late April and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

TEAM OF THE YEAR

Women's Soccer: The 2017 National Runner-up posted a 15-4-1 season in 2018 en route to its fourth-consecutive regular season SAC Championship and its fourth-straight appearance in the SAC Title match. The Eagles returned to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth-straight year making an appearance in the NCAA Southeast Region Semifinal game. Three student-athletes received All-America honors for the first time in program history.

Men's Swimming: Coach Jordan Taylor led his No. 20 ranked men's team to a 170.5 to 144.5 victory over No. 10 Wingate to open the 2018-19 slate helping the Eagles remain unbeaten inside the friendly confines of the MSAC Pool since 2013. C-N has jumped up in the national rankings two different times this year in the CollegeSwimming rankings making a pit stop at No. 11 before reaching the highest ranking in program history as the seventh-ranked team in all of D2 at current standing.

Men's Golf: Through its fall slate, Carson-Newman registered top 10 performances in all three of the events it competed in, including a win at the Cougar Invitational, presented by Aflac. In that event, the then-No. 16 Eagles topped a field that included seven other ranked schools, including No. 2 Lynn, No. 4 Florida Southern and No. 5 Florida Tech. Coach Randy Wylie's group was ranked as high as eighth in the nation in the Golf Coaches Association of America poll during the fall, the highest a Carson-Newman team has been ranked in the poll since he came to the helm.

Women's Golf: The fall saw Carson-Newman break into the Golfstat top 25 list for the first time in program history. Coach Suzanne Strudwick's team opened the year with a ninth-place showing at the UIndy Invitational, hosted by the reigning national champions. They followed that performance with a third-straight team and individual win at the King Invitational before back-to-back third-place finishes to close the fall.
