From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Female Freshman of the Year. Friday we'll unveil the candidates for Upset of the Year.
The sixth annual Frosty Awards will take place in late April and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

FEMALE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Taylor Rohr (Volleyball): The rookie led the Eagles in assists per set with 4.77 playing in all 29 matches and all but eight sets during 2018. The Windsor, Colo. native led the team in helpers 14 times with eight matches of more than 20 including a career-high 30 against Tusculum on Oct. 23. She had six double-doubles on the season as she began her career with 25 assists, 12 digs and a season-high four service aces against Belmont Abbey on Aug. 31.
Jente Kuper (Soccer): Kuper was awarded second-team All-South Atlantic Conference in her first season at Mossy Creek with tough shoes to fill after replacing All-American Helen Seed. She recorded one goal and two assists as a center back getting 17 starts in 20 games to help the Eagles grab its fourth-consecutive regular season league title.
Elena Propst (Soccer): Propst played in all 20 games for C-N in 2018 recording two goals and three assists in time as a forward and a defensive back. All seven of her points during the year game over a six-game stretch from Sept. 5 to Sept. 26.
Meredith Ginn (Swimming): Ginn already appears on three different lists for a program record through four meets for Jordan Taylor's group, holding two of the top-five times in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard breaststroke. She's also second in school history in the 400 IM at 4:25.35. The first-year swimmer is 10th in the nation in the 200 IM and eighth in the country in the 400 IM.
Rachel Strayer (Cross Country): Strayer started the year with a bang at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational finishing in 13th place at her first collegiate competition. She set the school record for the 5-kilometer race at the Queens Royals Challenge on October 12th finishing 31st out of 412 runners with a time of 18:13. She finished her freshman year of cross-country earning All-Conference and All-Region honors with her top-15 finishes at the SAC and Region Championships.
