From now until Jan. 2, the Carson-Newman Athletic Communications Department will debut the Frosty Award nominees for the fall semester. These are the fall nominees for Female Athlete of the Year. Wednesday we'll unveil the candidates for Male Athlete of the Year.
The sixth annual Frosty Awards will take place in late April and honor athletic excellence in Carson-Newman's athletic department.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Morgan Ballard (Volleyball): The junior took her game up a notch in 2018 garnering all-region honors from the AVCA and D2CCA. Of the nine individuals to earn all-region honors in C-N history, Ballard joins Nikki James as the only Eagles to be on a list twice in their careers. The first-team All-South Atlantic Conference selection made the top league squad for the second consecutive campaign becoming the sixth player in program history to be on the top team twice in a career and first since Katie Troyer did so in 2008 and 2009. The Weaverville, N.C. native finish the year with 784 digs and 7.61 digs per set to rank among the nation's best. The total digs were good for third in school history while she became the first Eagle to post at least seven scoops per set.
Magda Mosengo (Soccer): Mosengo goes from not earning a single postseason accolade in 2017 to third-team United Soccer Coaches All-America. The senior forward Mosengo posted one of the better seasons in both the history of the program and all of Divison II as she maintained a spot inside the nation's top-10 in goals and points throughout the year. The London, England product collected 20 goals and seven assists for a total of 47 points which ties for eighth since the team's inception in 1991. She was also named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year with a first-team All-SAC nod. Failing to record a point in the first two games of the season, she recorded at least one point in every game she played since, a total of 17 games. She ended the year 8th in the nation in points and 8th in goals, six of which were game winners.
Averi Williams (Soccer): Williams earned United Soccer Coaches All-America honors becoming just the third Eagle to crack the first-team joining Lauren Wade (2017) and Claire Ramsdale (2005). She's also just the second player to become an All-American as a defender with Helen Seed becoming the first a year ago. The native of Powell, Tenn. was also named D2CCA All-Region to go along with first-team All-league honors and the SAC's Defensive Player of the Year. The senior center back was an integral part of C-N's fourth-straight South Atlantic Conference regular-season championship as she started in all 20 games for the Eagles recording two goals and an assist. She turned in over 7100 minutes played in her time at Mossy Creek.
Jackie Burns (Soccer): Burns collected United Soccer Coaches third-team All-America honors following an 11-1 season with 5.1 shutouts. She currently sits second all-time in the SAC in career shutouts with 30.4. The junior out of Cookstown, Northern Ireland posted a goals against average of 0.86, which was the best in the league. She currently leads the program in four single-season statistical categories and seven different career tiers with a year still remaining.
Lisa Postma (Swimming): Postma has collected two individual event wins so far this season to go along with two wins as a member of a relay team. The Holland native owns the sixth-best time in the country in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.16 seconds and the sixth-best time in the 100-yard freestyle at 50.42 seconds. She's second in the program in both events.
Rachel Strayer (Cross Country): Coming in as a true freshman for the women's cross-country team Strayer made a name for herself right off the bat. Strayer finished first for her team in every race this season coming in 13th place at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invite, 24th at the Queens City Invite, 31st at the Royals challenge, 6th at the SAC Championships and 12th at the Region Championships. With her efforts this season she set a personal record at the Queens City Invite and later crushed that and set the school record at C-N for the 5k at the Royals Challenge with a time of 18:13. Earning herself All-Conference and All-Region in her first collegiate XC season she has her eyes on qualifying for Nationals in the coming years.
