Female Performance of the Year

Emerson Ahsmuhs (Volleyball) vs Francis Marion: Ahsmuhs made her name known early and often. The freshman took her opportunity to shine in an early season tournament match against Francis Marion, where she collected a career-high 22 kills and tacked on two assisted blocks for a hitting percentage of .353 and a career mark of 24 points en route to a five-set victory over the Patriots.

Blair Cherry (Volleyball) at Tusculum: In a hostile environment against rival Tusculum, Cherry shined in a thrilling five-set win over the Pioneers, coming just one kill shy of becoming the first player to achieve a triple-double in program history. Cherry also matched her career-high of 55 assists and added 11 digs to earn the double-double. She was named the SAC's Offensive Player of the Week after her performance.

Blair Cherry (Volleyball) vs Lenoir-Rhyne: Almost earning a triple-double in a five-set thriller is one thing. Almost doing it in a sweep of then conference-leading Lenoir-Rhyne is another. Cherry found 39 assists, 11 digs, and eight kills, coming just two kills shy from the feat. Her performance, which included a service ace, saw Cherry hit .438 as Carson-Newman sunk its talons into the Bears, handing LR its first three-set loss of the season.

Maddie Hurst (Volleyball) vs Anderson: In the regular season finale, Hurst wanted to ensure nothing was coming back over the net as she found ten total blocks, becoming the first Eagle to surpass double-digit blocks in a match since 2022 when her teammate Taylor Keeran did it against Lenoir-Rhyne. Hurst added on eight kills to the performance as C-N battled Anderson through five sets.

Selina Jud (Soccer) @ Tusculum: Jud led Carson-Newman in a comeback victory over Tusculum in the regular season finale. After seeing her team go down a goal one minute in, Jud struck for goals in the 15th and 51st minute in C-N's 3-1 victory which clinched a spot in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. Jud's two-goal game is the second time in her career she has a brace. The junior forward has scored eleven goals now in her C-N career and three against Tusculum.

Bennett McCombs (Volleyball) vs Mars Hill: Setting a career-high in digs, McCombs saved 27 balls from hitting the hardwood against Mars Hill. The senior libero had been building to the moment after collecting 22 and 26 digs in back-to-back matches against UVA Wise and Emory & Henry. Adding on to her career day from the back row were her six assists which was one shy of matching her season-high.

Karli Pettitt (Soccer) v. Coker: Pettitt recorded her first career multi-goal game by scoring twice in a 3-1 win versus Coker on September 21st. She also assisted on C-N's first goal of the contest, scoring or assisting on all three goals in the win. Her goals were the second and third of the game, coming in the 27th and 58th minutes to help seal Carson-Newman's first conference win of the year.

Jennifer Sullivan (Basketball) v. Lenoir-Rhyne 20 pts, 6 3's: Sullivan recorded her best three-point shooting of the season, nailing six three-pointers in Carson-Newman's 92-72 victory in the conference opener versus Lenoir-Rhyne. The junior guard scored nine points in the first quarter and made three of her first four shots. It's the third straight game she has scored 20 or more points to start her Lady Eagle career.

Lindsey Taylor (Basketball) v. Lenoir-Rhyne 24 pts 10 reb: The graduate student forward was terrific in C-N's win versus LR. Taylor made ten of her 13 shots and scored a game-high 24 points, while ripping down 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year and 25th of her career. That statline came in just 23 minutes on the floor. She scored 18 of her 24 points in the second and third quarters, including a stretch where she scored six straight points for C-N.
