Chapman Provisionally Qualifies for Nationals at ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman University Men and Women's Track and Field opened their season at the East Tennessee Invitational yesterday and already have an athlete headed to the NCAA Championships this May.

Sophomore Kristin Chapman, three-time former Tennessee State Champion, placed third in the Women's High Jump with a leap of 5 foot 6 inches.

"Coach Tyler Stepp and I were pleased to see Kristin jump so well especially since it has been over a year since she competed collegiately," Head Track and Field Coach David Needs said.

The former Atlantic Sun champion has raised the standards high for the season.

Needs is sure that as the season continues, and Chapman gets back into rhythm, she will continue to push higher.

The Eagles are back at East Tennessee State University for Day 2 of the East Tennessee Invitational today.
