Seven Eagles earn All-Region Track & Field honors across 12 events

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Carson-Newman saw seven track and field athletes garner All-Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) Monday afternoon.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned the All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top three relay teams. The regions used for this award match those used during the cross country season, and student-athletes must come from USTFCCCA member institutions.

The seven Eagles earned all-region honors across 12 events. Randall Freeman garnered the most honors, earning all-region honors in the triple jump, shot put, discus and javelin.  Freeman is one of just one of 14 honorees nationwide to earn all-region honors in that many events.

TJ Davis and Tianna Mills also earned multiple all-region accolades for the Eagles. Mills and Davis both registered in the long jump and triple jump.

Tanner Stepp, a potential national qualifier, earned his all—region honors in the high jump.  He currently ranks eighth in the nation for the event.

Tori Gaul, Kristin Chapman and Samantha Gudger round out the honorees, receiving the merits for their work in the pole vault, and high jump, respectively.

Last year, nine athletes earned all-region honors across 11 events.
