JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.— Carson-Newman student athletes devoted their time and efforts Friday in helping the incoming freshman and transfers move into their dorms.
This has become a tradition here in Mossy Creek over the years as athletes from across all sports seasons aided in the efforts.
Women's soccer and cross-country took the middle shift of the day while a number of other sport teams were seen working throughout the day.
Track & Field head coach David Needs believes having his athletes help out with move-in day is extremely beneficial.
"Anything you can do to give back to the community is important and to create good feelings with those students who are going to support us throughout the year will be important too," Needs said.
Athletes were seen carrying anything from small luggage bags to heave refrigerators- up flights of stairs to the respected rooms. The coaching staffs were also presented and assisted throughout the day.
Carson-Newman baseball player Brandon Roberts found it to be a fun and exciting time away from the field.
"It is good to be out here with your teammates helping people out and it does not feel like a chore at all," Roberts said. "It is really fun."
Carson-Newman University in ranked second in the nation in service outreach. Events such as helping the move-ins on Friday certainly contribute to this honor.
