JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.—The Carson-Newman indoor track and field team is set to take part in the second-annual Buccaneer Invitational this weekend at the ETSU/MSHA Athletics Center on David E. Walker Track at Gentry Field.
This will be the third time in five weeks the Eagles will have competed in ETSU's Mini-Dome.
"I'm pretty sure everyone is comfortable up there at this point," C-N long jumper Timontrez Eady (Duval County, Fla.). "Everyone who has been there, we are pretty much comfortable and we are going to go in there and take whatever comes with the day. We have to take advantage of it."
The Invitational, who will be welcoming nearly 60 programs, will begin Friday morning with the women's 60 meter hurdles at 8 a.m. Day one will conclude over 12 hours later with the men's 5000 meter run at 8:15. Saturday's festivities will start at approximately 8:30 a.m. with the women's long jump and will begin to wind down at 5:45 p.m. with the men's 4 X 400 meter relay final.
Carson-Newman, who already has seven provisional qualifiers for indoor nationals, will be looking to add a few more athletes into that mix over the weekend.
"Every day we go into practice and put in a lot of work. As a team, we really just feed off each other," Eady said. "We try and keep our practice environment like we are out there competing, but at the same time, we try and lift each other up. It's not just a team, it's a family."
