SALEM, Va. – The Carson-Newman Track & Field program wrapped up their first day in the first meet of the indoor season at the Bast-Cregger Invitational at Roanoke College.

Day one held just a total of eight events between the men's and women's teams which included the pole vault, high jump, 4000-meter DMR, and 5000-meter run.

Amy Zadroga tied for second place in the pole vault with a mark of 3.10 meters before the sophomore failed to crack the 3.25m height.

Tiffany Noe and Shelby Reynolds held two out of the top seven spots in the high jump with the freshman Noe clearing 1.53 meters for a fourth-place finish. The junior Reynolds rounded out the seven spot at 1.48m. Samantha Gudger was one of seven jumpers to clear 1.48m behind Noe's placement.

C-N also placed two in the top-six on the men's side of the event with freshman Corey Proffitt's mark of 1.93m put him at third-place in his first event as an Eagle. It tied his lifetime best

"It was Tiffany's first time competing in two years because she missed her senior year due to injury," Coach Tyler Stepp said. "It was good to see her get out there and do well. Shelby was one bar off her personal best, I thought she had a really good day and all our guys at least matched one as well. It's really a bright future for our group especially once we get at full strength."

Last year's indoor South Atlantic Conference Athlete of the Year, Kristofer Potts-Howard, earned the six spot clearing a height of 1.88m, a new personal-best. His previous high jump came at the SAC Indoor Championships when he cleared 1.80m.  James Wilson also matched a personal-best in the event topping 1.78m.

The Eagles will pick back up the final day of the meet tomorrow morning starting at 11:00 a.m. with the throwing events.

"I'm just looking forward to see how these kids compete," Coach Stepp said. "This weekend for them is to knock some rust off and reward them for good fall training we had. As a coach, I just want to see them compete hard and put a good step forward into January when things get rolling.
