JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Coach David Needs and the Carson-Newman Track & Field program return to Salem, Va. for the second time during the indoor season for the two-day Finn Pincus Invitational at Roanoke College from Jan. 25-26.

The Eagles opened the year with the Bast-Cregger Invitational on Nov. 30 to Dec. 1 marking the second time in three meets and its fourth appearance in the last two seasons.

"It's a 200-meter flat track so you get a little bit of a time bonus for our runners," Needs said. "It's a great place to jump and our athletes get to measure themselves against the likes of St. Augustine's who is usually right up there as a national champion. It's a great facility and a great place to compete."

Junior jumper James Wilson broke a program record in the team's first meet of the year in the triple jump at 14.72 meters before Jahvad McDermott followed it up with a jump of 14.73 off C-N's last meet at the East Tennessee State University Invitational from Jan. 11-12.

Personal-best marks have already fallen for a number of Eagles through the team's two meets including multiple notable times and finishes for a few South Atlantic Conference watch list members in Caleb Agee, Tia Davis, and Devon Moore.

"We're looking at different tiers this weekend and what will get individuals for good finishes at conference and go to nationals," Needs said. "You have different people on different levels but as a good coach and as a good program you want to find value at wherever we are. You look to see the improvement for some of these athletes who can put together good back-to-back meets. Everyone's a little bit sore at this point in the year but we are hoping there will be a few that can go and it's a great measuring stick meet for sure."
