Western Carolina Invitational Final Results

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Carson-Newman Track & Field wrapped up its final meets prior to the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships next week following the Western Carolina Invitational and the Bucknell Tune-Up on Saturday, April 14.

Luke Greer competed in the 5000-meter run at Bucknell on Saturday night with an eighth-place finish in the event at 14:18.64.

"Great race in tough conditions in a tough race," said Coach Eric Phillips. "We'll continue to work on sharpening up our mental game moving forward as we pursue a couple more opportunities. Recovery and relaxation are key in the key few days as we head back up for another big weekend."

Kathie O'Neill was one of four Eagles to compete at WCU this weekend as she turned in a No. 1 performance in the 1500-meter run for the Eagles with a time of 4:44.94, her second lowest time of the season. In total, it is her second victory of the outdoor campaign and fourth top-four finish.

Ross Ensley collected second-place and a new personal best in the Javelin throw clearing 47.48 meters. The mark was reset after he had previously earned a new high at the Montreat Invitational two weeks ago at 46.86m.

Amy Zadroga cleared 3.30 meters in the pole vault for C-N grabbing a fourth-place overall finish. The mark for the sophomore tied for her highest cleared height so far this season.

On the men's side, Josh Finchum collected a ninth-place finish clearing 3.35 meters.

"I am proud of those kids to go over there and run when most of their teammates were off or at other meets," said Coach David Needs. "It speaks to their dedication especially when they performed like they did."

The SAC Outdoor Championships are slated to take place next Thursday-Saturday, April 18-20 in Hickory, N.C. at Pulliam Stadium/Howard Fisher Memorial Field.
