BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two-time indoor track All-American Devon Moore has his sights set on a program record when he hits the sprinting lane this weekend at the 2020 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships inside of the Birmingham Crossplex
Moore is set to participate in the 60 meter and 200 meter sprints. Preliminary heats for the two events are slated for 5:15 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. Friday evening. He will run in heat one of the 60 meter and heat two of the 200 meter. Eight sprinters will advance to the finals on Saturday night in each event.
The three heat winners of the 60 meters will advance to Saturday night's finals at 6 p.m. and the next fastest times overall will comprise the final. In the 200 meters, five heat winners will advance to Saturday's 7:30 p.m. finals with the next three fastest times of the prelims advancing. The 200 will feature to heats with four runners. The top eight runners for each event are tabbed first-team All-Americans while sprinters nine through 12 are second-team selections.
"The great thing about Devon is he has been on a mission this season," Carson-Newman coach David Needs said. "He has been focused on this moment. Each step along the way was to get him to this moment after his success in the outdoor championships last year. His focus and his preparation has been pushing him towards this. We are excited. The 60 and the 200 are special events for him. He is so special in the 200 because he is such a great curve runner. It will be great to see him on a bank surface. This year is probably the best field in Division II's history in terms of the 60 so it's exciting to see him be a part of that."

In 2019-20, he enters the field with the fourth-fastest time in the country in the 60 using his 6.69, his career best, at the Finn Pincus Invitational on Jan. 24, 2020.
In the 200, he enters the championships with the 10th best time in the country posting a spring of 21:24 at the VMI Indoor Classic on Feb. 14, 2020. He took home SAC titles in both events this season.
