MONTREAT, N.C. – Carson-Newman's top finishers on both the men's and women's side at the Hyder-McMahill College Invitational were both freshman. Joshua Marsh paced the men's cross country team with a time of 29:11.71 while Sara Honaker turned in a 21:14.23.
Marsh finished 33rd for the men's race and Honaker 16th for the women.
Carson-Newman's men's team finished eighth. Had the women's team had enough runners, it would have finished sixth.
The men's team finished in front of fellow SAC school Tusculum, while the women would have bested Coker, Newberry and Tusculum.
Amanda Bowman turned in a top 20 finish for the women with a time of 21:20.12, just six seconds behind her teammate. The top 20 finish is Bowman's third of the last two years.
The Eagles travel to the Wingate Bulldog Stampede next weekend.
