COLUMBIA, S.C.— The Carson-Newman cross country teams wrapped up the South Atlantic Conference Championships Saturday morning with a fifth-place showing by the women and an eighth-place tally by the men in both the five and eight kilometer runs.
The women, who ran an average time of 29:12.12 on the day, came one-slot behind where the squad finished a season ago. Led by Hannah Green (Talbott, Tenn.) for the third time on the season, Carson-Newman had six runners finish within 15 slots from one another.
Green crossed the finish line with the 31st-best time of 20:28.5 while Jennifer Warren (Piney Flats, Tenn.) concluded the day for the Eagles with a 22:14.1 time for 68th-place overall.

Wingate followed closely behind while Anderson, Catawba, C-N, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial and Mars Hill rounded out the top-eight. Tusculum, Newberry, Coker and Brevard took up the final four spots in the standings.
On the men's side, the Eagles jumped two spots from a season ago into the the eighth-overall seeding following the meet. Carson-Newman was paced by Luke Greer (Abington, United Kingdom) with a time of 27:25.0 in the right-kilometer run. Saturday was the frist time on the season Greer finshed first for the Eagles.
Amos Korir (Eldorett, Kenya) came in right behind Greer to finish second on the team with a 27:27.9 time. Antohy Jackson (Manchester, Tenn.), Nick Guerra (Richardson, Texas), Alec Bross (Charlotte, N.C.) and Rafael Adame also finished with qualifying times for Carson-Newman.
