ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman’s Austin Bridgewater
(Morristown, Tenn.) has been named South Atlantic Conference
Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Bridgewater, a junior right-hander, carried the Eagles past
Augusta State in an 8-0 win on Sunday afternoon, with 7 1/3 innings
of shutout ball and 10 strikeouts. He allowed just four hits and
surrendered four walks. His 10 strikeouts are the most by an Eagle
since the 2008 season.
Catawba outfielder Wade Moore was named SAC Player of the
Week.
The SAC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards are selected by
members of the league office.
