ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman's Wes McIntyre (Chattanooga, Tenn.) has been named South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 28, league officials announced Monday.
McIntyre, a senior right-hander, fired a seven-inning no-hitter at Brevard College in a 6-0 Eagles win on Saturday afternoon, as C-N completed a three-game sweep of the Tornados in Brevard, N.C. He struck out a season-high 12 batters in the win.
McIntyre also pitched three shutout innings on Thursday as the Eagles beat Limestone, 9-1. He took a 1-0 lead into the seventh, before C-N blew the game open with an eight-run inning. In all, the Eagles turned in a 5-0 week and have won 10-straight games.
Tusculum junior catcher Sean Cotton was named SAC Player of the Week.
