Griffin to be feature speaker at First Annual Catcher Con

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman baseball coach Tom Griffin will be one of the featured speakers at the 1st Annual Catcher Con being held in the Music City from December 11-13.

The 11th-year coach will be the first speaker on the second day of the event from 8-9:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 12. Griffin's topics will including blocking mechanics and drills.

Griffin has authored an instructional catching baseball video, "Catch It, Block It, Throw It." A regular instructional speaker at various coaching clinics and camps, he has been the featured speaker at the American Baseball Coaches Association convention in Orlando, Fla. in 2007 and Anaheim, Calif. in 2012.

A 2012 inductee into Tennessee Wesleyan Sports Hall of Fame, Griffin was a four-year starting catcher for the Bulldogs and a three-time All-TVAC selection and a member of the All-District team in 1988.

Among ther speakers scheduled for the event Colorado Rockies catching coach Jerry Weinstein who has been the Brewers catching coordinator, managed for the Expos, Cubs, and for the Rockies in the California League and the catching coordinator for the Dodgers and later Director of Player Development for the Dodgers.

The event will be held at the Nashville Marriot Airport Location and is billed as the most extensive catching convention ever produced.
