Griffin to cover catching at the 2016 ABCA Convention

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Carson-Newman baseball coach Tom Griffin will be a speaker covering the catching position at the 2016 American Baseball Coaches Association Convention on Saturday, Jan. 9th, 2016 at 3:40 p.m. on being a complete catcher.

The veteran leader of the Eagles will speak on the second day of a four-day event to be held in Nashville at the 72nd annual convention featuring coaches from high school baseball to Major League Baseball.

Griffin has authored an instructional catching baseball video, "Catch It, Block It, Throw It." A regular instructional speaker at various coaching clinics and camps, he has been the featured speaker at the American Baseball Coaches Association convention in Orlando, Fla. in 2007 and Anaheim, Calif. in 2012.

A 2012 inductee into Tennessee Wesleyan Sports Hall of Fame, Griffin was a four-year starting catcher for the Bulldogs and a three-time All-TVAC selection and a member of the All-District team in 1988.

Some of the featured speakers include the coach of the 2015 College Baseball World Series Champion Virginia Cavaliers, Brian O'Connor, best-selling author Jon Gordon and 2015 MLB Hall of Famer John Smoltz during the event.

The event will span from Jan. 7th through the 10th in the Music City with events spanning from speaking engagement, clinics and awards dinners.
