Rain shuffles C-N's SAC Tournament opener

KODAK, Tenn. - The first play of the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Championships saw the league get one game in and move the nightcap to Friday morning at 10 a.m. There will be four games played as the battle between third-seeded Carson-Newman and fourth-seeded Lincoln Memorial has been pushed back an hour to an 8:30 p.m. first pitch at Smokies Stadium.

The first day was delayed 40 minutes on Thursday with fifth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne losing to eighth-seeded Anderson 16-2 in a game that lasted north of three hours. With rain pelting the region, the conference elected to postpone the meeting between sixth-seeded Newberry and seventh-seeded Tusculum.

It is a rematch of the the 2017 SAC Baseball Championship round as the two programs square off for the fifth time in the league tournament and 67th time overall between the two schools.

Audio and video streams are available free of charge on cneagles.com/live starting 15 minutes before the first pitch thanks to the Eagle Sports Network.
