Davis takes home SAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman men's basketball player Antoine Davis (Rustburg, Va.) picked up SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors after averaging 19.7 points and 7.3 rebounds as the Eagles started the year 3-0.

The player of the week nod is the first for a C-N men's basketball player since Ish Sanders (Cleveland, Tenn.) won the award Dec. 12, 2011.

Davis went for a season high 23 points in the Eagles 103-73 win Saturday over Knoxville College.  Davis was a rebound away from his third career double-double in the contest with the Bulldogs.

The junior was an identical 9-15 from the floor in the win over Knoxville and a season opening win over Lees-McRae 68-62.  Davis is the only Eagle that has had more than 10 points and five rebounds in each of Carson-Newman's first three games of the season.

Davis also averaged 3.7 assists, two blocks and two steals per game to complete his stat sheet stuffing for the week.

His three steals against Columbus State matched a career high.

Newberry center Haylee Lepaio was selected as the women's player of the week.

Carson-Newman's men's basketball team is on display for the first time in Holt Fieldhouse Wednesday at 7 p.m.  The Eagles take on Hiwassee.  Coca-Cola Eagle Sports Network coverage begins at  6:45 p.m. with the Farm Bureau Countdown to Tipoff on 106.3 ESPN Radio The Zone and cneagles.com.
