Davis becomes Carson-Newman's first professional signee since Andy Tipton went to Australia in 2008. Sechtem went 13-13 last year.
"I couldn't be happier for him," Carson-Newman head coach Chuck Benson said. "He was the standard by which everyone else will and should be judged here at Carson-Newman. I'm not at all surprised at this opportunity and he'll give more than is expected for the Toros. I love him so much as a person, I'm just thrilled for him."
Davis finished his Carson-Newman career with 1,526 points and at 18.3 points per game, the highest scoring average for any Eagle in the Division II era. In his senior season, he scored more than 20 points on 15 occasions this season. He hit 29 points on two occasions, both against Anderson.
"This means everything," Davis said. "This is what I've worked all my life for. I had a good career here at Carson-Newman, now it's just time to keep it going.
Davis helped Carson-Newman to its first NCAA tournament in a decade. The Eagles fell in the opening round to LMU 76-65. The 2012-13 South Atlantic Conference player of the year had 16 games with five or more rebounds and six games with five or more assists.
The Eagles were unbeaten this year when he dropped five or more dimes in a game. Davis is a two-time first team All-SAC selection and earned All-American honors a year ago.
"My teammates are like my brothers and like my family," Davis said. "They're just ready to see me work like I've always have."
