Cavalier and Benson's Ice Bucket Challenge

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head men's basketball coach Chuck Benson and the Voice of the Eagles Adam Cavalier accepted head baseball coach Tom Griffin's ice bucket challenge to help raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Cavalier took seven buckets of ice, and Benson two.  In addition the duo each donated 25 dollars to the ALS Association.

As a part of the ice bucket challenge, Benson nominated Carson-Newman hoops alum and Missouri State men's basketball strength coach Collin Crane to take part. Cavalier has nominated two-time West Virginia Sportswriter of the Year Chuck McGill, Men's Health's Brian Dalek and the Charlottesville Daily Progress' Andrew Ramspacher. The quartet now have 48 hours to to dump a bucket of ice water over their head or make a donation to fight ALS.

The ice bucket challenge has been sweeping the nation over the past couple weeks as it has helped the ALS Association raise $4 million in donations compared to $1.12 million at this time last year. The ALS Association has been using the hashtag #IceBucketChallenge to spread the word.
