Brooks lauded as TSWA player of the week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman forward Carson Brooks (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been tabbed as the Tennessee Sportswriters Association's player of the week after a record-setting performance.

Brooks set South Atlantic Conference and Carson-Newman records for most made field goals in a game without missing.  The junior went 12-for-12 from the field in C-N's two-point loss to Barton Friday evening.

Brooks was dominant in and around the paint.  He scored six of his 26 points on dunks, eight on layups and 10 on jumpers.  The other two points came at the foul line.

For the week, Brooks averaged 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.  Brooks is shooting 77 percent from the field.

He becomes Carson-Newman's first TSWA honoree since Chuck Benson became head coach in 2010.
