ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the seventh time in his storied Carson-Newman career, and the first of his senior season, men's basketball guard Charles Clark (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) has been tabbed for AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday morning.

Clark helped Carson-Newman to a 2-0 record this past week and a 4-0 start.  The Eagles drilled UVA-Wise on Wednesday night 88-65 before rallying for a 92-91 thriller against King on Saturday night inside Holt Fieldhouse.

The senior averaged 24 points with four boards and five assists in the Eagles' two victories.

He got the week started with a 20-point effort against UVA-Wise.  Three days later, Clark poured in 28 points to go with six assists and a pair of rebounds as the Eagles rallied against King. In foul trouble for much of the first half against King, Clark exploded in the second half for 26 points.

The Murfreesboro, Tenn.-native finished that game shooting 75 percent from the field and a flawless 4-for-4 from beyond the arc.

Clark's two, 20-point efforts mark the 47th and 48th times in his Carson-Newman career that he has scored at least 20 points.

The Eagles are 15-1 all-time when Clark dishes out at least five assists.

Clark in the rest of the Eagles will be in action Saturday at 4 p.m. against Lee.  Pregame coverage starts at 3:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on Mountain Country 106.3 (WPFT-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
