NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A day after earning player of the week honors from the South Atlantic Conference, senior guard Charles Clark has picked up state player of the week recognition from the Tennessee Sportswriters Association, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
The award is the sixth such honor from the TSWA for Clark in his career and the first of his senior campaign.
Clark has been named the league's player of the week four times this year.
Clark led the Eagles to a 2-0 week and got it started with a triple-double, the fourth of his career, in a 112-81 thumping of Anderson.
Clark scored 19 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists. With four triple-doubles for his career, Clark tied former L-R Bear Keenan Palmore for the most triple-doubles in a career in South Atlantic Conference history. Clark also has more triple-doubles than any other active player in NCAA basketball.
The senior followed up that performance with 24 at Lenoir-Rhyne to go along with four boards and five assists. Clark was instrumental in securing the Eagles' overtime win over the Bears, 89-79. He scored eight of his 24 points in the extra session and forced three steals in the final three minutes of regulation and the five-minute bonus session.
Clark went 12-for-25 from the floor for the week.
