JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman Athletics, in partnership with Stretch Internet, will provide free high definition video streams for all home football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball and baseball games through 2018-19. Road football, men's and women's basketball, as well as select road softball and baseball games will feature a free audio stream.
"As part of Carson-Newman's mission of becoming the premier Christian athletic department in the south, this is just one step closer to that being a reality," C-N Athletic Director Allen Morgan said. "Every family member, alum or interested community member can see our games wherever they are in the world. It's another exciting time in the history of Carson-Newman athletics."
Fans can watch the games through cneagles.com/live. In addition to watching or listening to the games, fans will also be able to access live stats and chat with other fans, as well as interact with the announcers as the game happens.
Last year, all video streams were done on a pay-per-view basis, with the exception Carson-Newman's second round football playoff game with Lenoir-Rhyne. More than 1,100 people viewed that stream.
The streams will be available through computers, as well as on IoS and Android mobile devices, live and on-demand after a game's conclusion.
"Carson-Newman fans are everywhere," Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier said. "It's invigorating to know that an alum in California will be able to see an Eagle football game on an Ipad."
The stream will also feature more camera angles and instant replay. Football games, for instance, will include seven different camera angles.
"More cameras means our students producing the games will get even more real-world experience" Cavalier said. "We've had kids like Blake McKinney, Clint Keller and Nathan McKinney who have done a fantabulous job running our games this past year, I'm stiked to have them back on board.
"Glenn Cragwall and company in our communications department also have us running at a top-notch clip."
The Carson-Newman versus Wayne State broadcast will be the inaugural HD stream and when Alabama-Huntsville comes to town to play the Eagles in women's soccer on Sept. 6, it will be the first time a soccer game has ever been video streamed.
