Introducing Eagle Vision, construction complete on new football video board

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The gameday experience for Carson-Newman football contests at Burke-Tarr Stadium is getting a little more visual.

Crews have finished construction on a 300,000 dollar video board – Eagle Vision - that now graces the northeast corner of Burke-Tarr Stadium.

The board, which was paid for by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, is 24 feet wide by 18 feet tall and will be capable of showing live and prerecorded video, instant replay and sponsorships among other things.  The video board is third in size among Division II schools behind Pittsburg State and Nebraska Omaha.

"It's a great blessing to have some people with vision who wanted us to have a new scoreboard and new sound system so people who came to games could see and here." Sparks said. "If we don't do something like that, then we're getting farther and farther behind from everyone else.

"We've always said we were going to honor the Lord with what we do which means doing it first class. I'm just grateful that we've got some donors who have made it possible."

Construction of the board was finished Monday, with ongoing tests concluding Wednesday.

The athletic communications crew will do dry runs during C-N's fall camp scrimmages.

"If you're not moving up, you're moving down," Sparks said. "We've got folks who see the ministry and see the Lord's hand in this and are willing to help us move up."

The board, replete with team entrance video, bells and whistles, will be on full display when the Eagles take on Wayne State, Thursday Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. to open their 2013 campaign.
