Duncan tabbed for September excellence by Fred Mitchell Award

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman placekicker Curt Duncan has been recognized for excellence both on and off the football field by the Fred Mitchell Award committee for the month of September.

Duncan was one of 26 kickers from FCS, Division II, Division III, NAIA and NCJAA to be recognized.

Duncan is second on the team in scoring with 31 points from  five field goals FG's and 16 PAT's.  Duncan leads the conference in scoring among kickers.

He hit a 38-yard FG in 27-24 win over Colorado Mines on September 14 en route to earning SAC special teams player of the week honors.

While it doesn't factor into the Fred Mitchell Award, Duncan's 41.9 yards a punt would lead the league if he had enough attempts.

As a civic and spiritual leader, Duncan is a volunteer coach and referee for youth basketball and soccer and  an intern at Manley Baptist Church Student Ministry.  He serves at local missions projects each summer such as Appalachian Outreach and Food on Foot.

Duncan was named to the AFCA Good Works team at the end of September.
