JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The American Eagle Foundation is providing one of its Eagles, Mr. Lincoln to fly around Burke-Tarr Stadium during Carson-Newman's pregame festivities for its homecoming game with Tusculum Saturday.
Kickoff between the Eagles and Pioneers is set for 3 p.m.
Mr. Lincoln is a male Bald Eagle hatched and raised at the American Eagle Foundation in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. He was hatched in 1998 from the organization's breeding pair, Liberty and Justice, at the Dollywood theme park.
Mr. Lincoln now resides at the AEF facility and educates the public, free flying during many educational programs.
The American Eagle Foundation (AEF) is a not-for-profit organization of concerned citizens and professionals founded in 1985 to develop and conduct bald eagle and environmental recovery programs in the United States and to assist private, state and federal projects that do the same. Our goal is to fully restore the bald eagle, the U.S.A.'s National Symbol, to America's lands and skies and to "Build A Nest-Egg" for their future care and protection. It is headquartered at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
In addition, the organization is deeply involved in environmental education. Since 1991, it has educated millions of people at Dollywood and at schools, conventions and events throughout the country. AEF has successfully performed more than 8,000 "free flight" birds of prey education programs since 1991 using non-releasable, permanently disabled trained birds of prey. All of AEF's efforts to save and protect America's eagles do little good if it cannot teach respect and appreciation for these magnificent birds and their natural habitat, and that is the organization's number one goal.
