Eagles drop to eighth in region rankings

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman football has fallen to eighth in this week's region rankings following Saturday's 37-3 to Lenoir-Rhyne – the number one team in the region.

Carson-Newman (7-2, 3-2 SAC) plays host to Newberry (8-1, 5-1 SAC), the number two team in the region Saturday at 1 p.m. at Burke-Tarr Stadium. 

Newberry held on to a 28-21 win over Brevard last week.  UNC Pembroke, North Alabama, Tuskegee, West Alabama and Delta State round out the teams in front of the Eagles.

The top six teams in this ranking on Sunday, November 17, will qualify for the NCAA Division II postseason playoffs. Other games of note this week in the region include third-ranked UNC Pembroke at 10th-ranked Valdosta State on Thursday night and ninth-ranked Miles at fifth-ranked Tuskegee.
