Sparks concludes day one of Coaching Clinic with big name speakers

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.—Carson-Newman head coach Ken Sparks kicked off the Eagles' 2016 Coaching Clinic Friday afternoon by welcoming roughly 400 college and high school football coaches, as well as their wives and children, to the Music Road Convention Center Pigeon Forge, Tenn. for the three day clinic ending Sunday morning.

Friday's activities began at 4:30 p.m. as Sparks and wife Carol Sparks welcomed the attendees to the clinic.

Speakers of the day from the Carson-Newman coaching staff included Sparks, Defensive Coordinator Larry Slade and Offensive Coordinator Mike Turner.

Guest speakers who made appearances on the night were University of Tennessee Football and Basketball coaches Butch Jones and Rick Barns as well as former NFL head coach Jerry Glanville. Dr. Farris Jordan also spoke Friday evening.

Saturday's activities are set to begin with an 8:00 a.m. session with Ken Smith followed by coaches Bill and Billy Napier. Sam Wyche and Joey King will also hold sessions Saturday afternoon.

The 2016 Carson-Newman Coaches Clinic will wrap up Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. music and fellowship led by former C-N coach Dal Shealy.
