SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Former Carson-Newman quarterback and current Cartersville High School (Georgia) head coach Joey King has been tabbed to be the offensive coordinator in the annual US Army All-American Bowl Jan. 6.
King will coach for the east in the one of the country's premier high school football all-star game.
A former South Atlantic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year and AFCA AllState Good Works Team member, King has reached 50 wins faster than any coach in Georgia High School football history.
While 2005 graduate was at C-N, he was a member a trio of NCAA playoff teams a three-time South Atlantic Conference Champion.
King passed for 600 yards in his career with two touchdowns. On the ground, he tallied 424 yards and five career scores.
He has helped Cartersville to two AAAA state football titles in the last three years.
The Army All-American Bowl's 18-year history is highlighted by players who would go on to win the Heisman Trophy and more than 400 players who would go on to play in the NFL.
The game will be broadcast on NBC Saturday at 1 p.m.
