HIGH SCHOOL: Thornton was his region's defensive player of the year and a four-time all-region selection for Rance Gillespie at the Brookstone School. 

PERSONAL: The son of Cassondra Thornton and Maurice Minter, he plans to study business at Carson-Newman.
