GREENWOOD, Ind. – For a second time this season, Anthony Marcinelli (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been lauded for his academic success, being named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team on Thursday.

Marcinelli is the first Eagle golfer this decade to receive the distinction from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). His first postseason accolade came back in early April when he was named the South Atlantic Conference's men's golf Elite 20 award winner, the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average based on a minimum of 48 credit hours and is competing at the final competition site for their respective sports.

Award winners are recognized by CoSIDA as the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. He is one of the 11 recipients from the district made up of student-athletes from Conference Carolinas, Peach Belt and the South Atlantic Conference.

Marcinelli recently obtained a degree in accounting with a 4.0 GPA. He came into Carson-Newman with 33 college credits to his name, allowing him to graduate this spring.

On the course, the junior played in all but one of Carson-Newman's regular season tournaments and was a part of the Eagles' SAC Championship winning squad and played in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional. He finished in the top-20 of four events with a 74.52 average through 27 rounds of play this season. His best outing was in the conference championship where he finished six-over par, good enough for a spot at 12th on the leaderboard.

With this accolade, Marcinelli now advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.
