Round 1 Results

CAMDEN, S.C. – With the edges of Hurricane Florence hitting South Carolina, the second round of the Coker was canceled on Monday as No. 16 Carson-Newman closed out the first round of the Coker Fall Challenge at sixth-place on Monday.

Today was initially scheduled to include 36 holes of play but inclement weather limited the teams to just 18 after a weather delay.

Two Eagles sat in the top 10 of the field at the conclusion of the first round with the team shooting a +8 round of 288.

"Tom, Alex and Will Collins played really solid, others struggled a bit," head coach Randy Wylie said of his team. "Hopefully we get the rust off and will play better tomorrow in the final round."

Tom Forster (Oundle, England) led the way for the Eagles in the first round at three-under, landing him at third in the field with a 67. The junior was tied for second-best in the round on par 4 scoring with a 3.80 average, two-under on such holes. He shot six birdies in the first round, tying for the most shot in the frame.

Alex Hutson (Newport Tenn.) tied for 10th after the first 18 holes, even with par. He was one of six golfers to card an eagle in the round. He tied for second-best scoring on Par 5 holes at -3 with a 4.00 average.

Participating as an individual, Will Collins (Knoxville, Tenn.) was one-stroke behind Hutson after the opening round. His debut round with the Eagles resulted in a one-over round of 71. He was even for Par 3 holes while going two-under on Par 5s.

Senior Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.) was five-over to start the tournament with a 75.

Following close behind the senior were Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Fintan McKenna (Aberdeen, Scotland). The duo was six-over through the first round with a 76.

No. 8 Limestone sits atop the leaderboard at even with a 280. Five strokes behind the Saints is No. 10 Lincoln Memorial at second followed by Coker and No. 25 Young Harris who are tied at third.

On the Individual side, LMU's Sam Broadhurst leads the field at five-under with a 65. His teammate Dan Bradbury is one shot behind him through the first round.

The Coker Fall Challenge will finish up on Tuesday from the Camden Country Club with a final round of 18.
