No. 16 Eagles finish tied for sixth at Coker Fall Challenge

Final Results

CAMDEN, S.C. – Despite shooting seven shots higher on Tuesday, No. 16 Carson-Newman was able to retain its sixth place spot from the first round, shooting a 295 on Tuesday to finish the Coker Fall Challenge with a share of sixth-place.

The Eagles were +23 in the event with a 583 total. Of the South Atlantic Conference teams in the field, C-N was the third-highest squad on the leaderboard.

Junior Tom Forster (Oundle, England) once again the led the flight of Eagles, carding a one-under round on Tuesday. He was second in the field throughout the event for birdies with 10 while also shooting two-under on Par 4 holes.

He was second in the entire field at four-under with a 136 total, marking his lowest 36-hole score at C-N.

Individual Will Collins (Knoxville, Tenn.) jumped into a tie for 10th on the final day of the tournament with another round of 71. He was two-over at 142 in his debut event with the Eagles. The freshman was the best C-N participant on Par 3 holes, even at par, and carded eight birdies.

"Tom played well, had a nice finish," head coach Randy Wylie said. "Good way to start the season. Will Collins had a really nice event. Rest of the team needs work."

Freshman Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) and senior Alex Hutson (Newport Tenn.) both held a share of 36th by the end of Tuesday at nine-over with totals of 149. Mynatt was three over in the second round, improving his game by three shots on Tuesday.

As for Hutson, he was nine-over on Tuesday, moving 26-spots down the leaderboard from the end of Monday.

Senior Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.) stayed the same in the second round, shooting another round of 75. He moved up one spot into a tie for 45th with a +10 outing of 150.

Fintan McKenna (Aberdeen, Scotland) rounded on the Eagles on the leaderboard, four shots behind Headrick. The junior was eight-over on Tuesday, moving to +14 through the two rounds of play in a tie for 59th. He carded a two-round total of 154, his lowest career 36-hole round score.

No. 8 Limestone was the top team in the tournament at six-over par. No. 10 Lincoln Memorial finished in second at +10 while Coker was third at +14.

Lincoln Memorial's Sam Broadhurst was the top overall individual, just two shots better than Forster at six-under par. Cameron Kellet from Young Harris was third in the event at three-under.

Carson-Newman keeps the wheels turning on its fall slate with a second-straight tournament in South Carolina for the Kiawah Island Invitational. That event will begin on Sept. 17 at the Osprey Point Golf Club.
