GREENVILLE, S.C. – A career-best 202 through 54 holes made Tom Forster the top medalist at the Southern Tide Classic while No. 19 Carson-Newman moved into a tie for second-place at three-over on Tuesday.

Not only was Forster's (Northamptonshire, England) 12-under showing in the event a new career low for the junior, besting his previous high by one shot, but it also stands in the South Atlantic Conference record books tied for the second-lowest 54 hole round score in conference history. The finish ties him with former Eagle Andrew Hall who shot the same score twice in 2015.

Forster's third career tournament win came after a 67 in the final round, mirroring the score he shot in the first round. His five-under third round made him just one of two players in the entire field to shoot that low.

"Great job by Tom Forster today," Carson-Newman coach Randy Wylie said. "Good finish up the leaderboard throughout the round. Jake Mynatt was really solid today too."

Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) made a one-shot improvement in the final round of play with a two-under showing on Tuesday. His 70 moved him up 21 spots on the leaderboard by the end of the third round.

Forster and Mynatt were the only two Eagles to shoot under par on the final day of action. As a whole, the Eagles were one-over in the third round.

Sitting in a tie for 31st, Jackson Tyler (Wilmington, N.C.) fired a 79 on Tuesday, 10 shots higher than his second round score. His third round caused him to move 20 shots down the leaderboard. He was seven-over in the round, moving him to six-over for the event.

A four-over round on Tuesday pushed Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.) to nine-over for the Classic, landing him in a tie for 38th. His 76 in the third round was his highest round score of the event, holding a 223 total.

Three shots behind Headrick was Will Collins (Knoxville, Tenn.), who moved up into a tie for 49th with a 226.  He mirrored his first round score on Tuesday with another 76. He was 12-over for the tournament.

Four shots separated Forster from the rest of the field by the end of Tuesday. Limestone's Filip Sandberg took second at eight-under with a 206 while Lincoln Memorial's Dan Bradbury finished at third with a four-under total.

On the team side, No. 16 LMU took the title after shooting a new SAC record low round score of 270 in the second round. The Railsplitters were 15-under through the event after firing a three-over round on Tuesday with a 291. Tied with C-N at second was Coker after shooting eight-over in the final round.

An 11-day respite from tournament action will prepare the Eagles for the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate at the nearby Sevierville Golf Club. That event will take place from March 17 to 19.
