No. 16/21 C-N holds third after second round at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Day Two Results

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – No. 16/21 Carson-Newman shaved five shots off of its first round score for a 285 in the second round to be the lone team in third-place at one-under by the end of Monday at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.

The 285 marks the fourth-lowest round score the team has notched this season. Through 36 holes, the Eagles hold a 575 total, the third-lowest two-round total this season.

"Better job today, but the guys still left shots out there," coach Randy Wylie said. "Very poor round by Fintan McKenna. Too many three putts."

Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) remained as the top Eagle on the leaderboard, this time moving down one spot into a tie for seventh-place after scoring a 71 on Monday. His one-shot higher showing in the second round moved him to a three-under 141, now standing as his best 36-hole score this season.

For a second consecutive round, Tom Forster (Northamptonshire, England) fired a 71, moving him to two-under for the event while staying in a tie for ninth. He holds a 142 total through the first two rounds.

Jake Headrick (Maryville, Tenn.) made a 32-spot jump up the leaderboard into a tie for 13th through the second round thanks to a six-shot improvement on Monday with a 69. That round matched his lowest round score of the season thus far. He heads into Tuesday with an even 144, also his best 36-hole score on the year.

Also making a jump up the leaderboard through the second round was Anthony Marcinelli (Knoxville, Tenn.), moving into a tie for 26th after an even 72 on Monday. He still sits at three-over through 36 holes, now with a 147 total which is his best two-round score this season.

Jackson Tyler (Wilmington, N.C.) mirrored his opening round score with another 74 on Monday, moving him to four-over with a 148 total, also his best two-round score of the season. He is now tied for 33rd in the field.

Fintan McKenna (Aberdeen, Scotland) fell 10 spots down the leaderboard after shooting three shots higher on Monday with a 79 in a tie for 70th.  He is now 11-over with a 155 total, his second-best 36 hole score.

Eastern Kentucky moved into first place by the end of Monday at 18-under with a 558 total. Lee moved down to second place at 12-under with C-N rounding out the top three. Those three teams were the only ones to remain under par through the second round.

IUPUI's Nick Bienz moved into a tie for first with Eastern Kentucky's Martin Eliasson at eight-under with a 136. Lee's Evan Spence and Northern Kentucky's Jacob Poore sit in a tie for third at six-under.
